Pick a daily check-in time that fits your post-shift routine. Tap once a day to confirm you're safe. If you miss it, your spouse, parent, or roommate gets alerted automatically. Built for the schedules that don't fit a 9-to-5. If you used Kitestring to get home from late shifts before it shut down, Beacon Safe picks up where it left off.
Why Beacon Safe for Night Workers
Pick a daily check-in time that works for your latest possible post-shift routine. Choose 12-hour intervals if you want twice-daily coverage, or 24-hour for a single ritual. Use Vacation Mode for known days off. The app adjusts to your life, not the other way around.
Your spouse sleeping while you're on a 3 a.m. fare? Once your contacts are alerted, an automated voice call rings through 5 minutes after the initial SMS — even on a silenced phone. SMS, email, and voice for redundancy.
Phone dies on a long shift? Doesn't matter. The deadline runs on our servers, not your phone. If you don't check in, alerts fire even if your phone is off, dead, lost, or destroyed in the incident itself.
No location tracking. No data sold to anyone. Your employer can't see this. We don't know what you do for work, and we don't ask. We only know whether you checked in.
Real Use Cases
You drive Uber and Lyft most weekends, finishing your last fare around 3 a.m. Your wife used to wait up to make sure you got home. Now you have a daily check-in set for noon — that gives you time to drive home, sleep in, and tap "I'm safe" before lunch. Most days you tap it from the kitchen with coffee in your hand. The night a drunk driver rear-ended you at 2:30 a.m. and you ended up in the ER until 7 a.m., you got home, slept until 11, and tapped your check-in. Nothing fired. The night that could have gone differently — the night you didn't make it home at all — your wife would have been alerted at 2 p.m., then your sister at 2:20, then your roommate at 2:40, all in priority order until someone responded.
You work three 12-hour overnights at the hospital, 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Your shift ends, you change, walk to your car in a parking garage that's quiet at 7:15 a.m., drive home through morning traffic. Your daily check-in is set for 10 a.m. — enough time to get home, shower, eat, and decompress before tapping "I'm safe." There's nothing to remember between shifts; the time you picked is the time you tap, every day. On your nights off you're already home well before 10 a.m., so the routine is the same. The one morning your car wouldn't start in the garage and you sat there for 90 minutes waiting for AAA, you got home at 10:15 — past the deadline but inside the 2-hour grace period. No false alarm to your husband.
You patrol a warehouse complex on weekends, 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. The site is remote, mostly empty, and the radio coverage is spotty. Your daily check-in runs at 8 a.m. — about an hour after you typically lock the door behind you at home. The check-in only takes a second. Your sister, who you live with, doesn't have to wait up. The morning you slipped on black ice in the parking lot and fractured a wrist, you couldn't get to your phone in time. After the 2-hour grace period at 10 a.m., she got an SMS, called the hospital, and was at the ER before the X-ray was developed.
If you sleep hard after a long shift or live alone, the Plus plan's Safety Check is built for you. Beacon will text and call YOU first when your check-in deadline approaches and you haven't responded — a personal wake-up before any of your contacts ever hear about it. Most missed check-ins get caught and resolved this way before anyone else gets a notification.
Alert Channels
Detailed alert with your last check-in time and deadline. Works for everyone, even on the free tier — ideal for a spouse or parent who keeps email open.
Texts land instantly on your contact's lock screen. Most people see texts faster than email — critical when you're hours past the end of your shift.
If your spouse is asleep and silences SMS overnight, an automated voice call rings through 5 minutes later. Calls cut through Do Not Disturb the way texts can't.
You get a push reminder before your deadline. Tap once to check in — designed to work fast when you're exhausted at the end of a 12-hour shift.
Contact Responses
Every alert — email, SMS, or voice call — includes four one-tap response options so the people at home can coordinate without a panic group chat:
Responses sync across all channels in real time. The first contact to confirm closes the loop for everyone — so a missed check-in after a tough shift doesn't turn into your whole family calling each other at 3 a.m.

FAQ
Beacon Safe runs a daily check-in at a time you pick during onboarding — not a per-shift timer you arm and disarm. Pick a time that lands after your typical post-shift routine (drive home, shower, decompress). Late-shift nurse off at 7 a.m.? Set check-in for 9 or 10 a.m. Rideshare driver done at 3 a.m.? Set it for noon. Each day at that time you tap a button to confirm you're safe. There's no arming, no per-event setup, and nothing to remember between shifts.
Most gig drivers, nurses, and shift workers don't have fixed hours. Pick a check-in time that works for your worst case — the latest you'd normally be home and reachable. For more aggressive coverage, switch to the 12-hour interval (twice daily) so a single missed afternoon doesn't wait until tomorrow to trigger. You can change your preferred check-in time anytime your schedule shifts, and Vacation Mode pauses checks cleanly on days off.
Your spouse only gets notified after your check-in deadline passes AND a 2-hour grace period expires. If you check in within your window — or within the grace period — no one ever hears anything. Contacts are alerted one at a time in priority order with about 20 minutes between tiers, so even a delayed alert can usually be resolved before secondary contacts are involved. The Plus plan also offers Safety Check, which calls and texts YOU first before alerting your contacts — so a missed check-in usually gets caught and resolved before anyone else gets a notification.
Beacon Safe is not an emergency service and does not contact 911 or emergency responders. In any life-threatening emergency, always call 911 (or your local emergency number) directly. Beacon Safe alerts your personal contacts as a supplemental check-in tool. This is a personal safety tool, not a workplace lone-worker compliance system. Alert delivery depends on network availability and cannot be guaranteed.
